Confession

*I like to leave the price tags on EVERYTHING.  It makes it seem new for longer.

*Sometimes I parent from the couch.  Come on we all do it!

*I wear the ghetto'est flannel pj's ALL the time, with the ghetto'est shirt.  I can't part from them.  (Kacey you'd be happy to know I have safely stored my orange shirt.  I have found a new love...a black men's gun shirt...we're BFF's)

*I leave my vaccuum cleaner out ALWAYS.  I've put it away twice since we moved in.  Why put it away when I vaccuum 1, 2, 3, 4 sometimes 5 times a day!

*I take WAY too many photo's!  Kev said I need to learn to start "living in the moment."  Well my moment is taking pictures.  Photo's are my memory.

*I love organization and getting rid of clutter and unnecessary junk (oh it feels so good) but I am secretly a hoarder.  Everything has some sort of sentimental value.  In fact I still have my very first bra.  Why?  I don't know!  One day it could come in handy.  Plus it's always nice seeing my growth progress!  Things I don't hoard: Kevin's stuff (sorry Kev).

Lincoln's First Dentist Experience

Today Lincoln had his first dentist appointment/cleaning.  I knew it would be hit or miss.  And I knew this experience would be dependent on his "ad-tude."  To my surprise it was a hit (ya for a good attitude)!  He answered every question with a "yap!"  And I heard the sweetest laugh while the hygienist was showing him around.  He was loving it and laughing up a storm!  How that hygienist keeps up her enthusiasm all day I'll never now but she was SO great!!!!  And he did so great!  He made me proud.  And when it came time to choose which tooth brush he wanted...he opted for the Dora one.  I tried to persuade him to get the Diego one but he replied with a "mom I have that one at home."  It's true he already had the Diego one so the Dora one it was.  I'm at that point of having to let go and letting him make his own decisions (such as choosing the Dora toothbrush).

Decorating Mode

We are back from vacation and I can now get back into decorating mode!  I miss decorating mode.  I also miss spending 6 out of 7 days at Winners/Home Sense searching for the perfect house accessories (this whole working thing is cutting into my shopping time)!

First on my list: our bedroom!  Our room in our old house was dreadful!  We had large dark furniture in a dark room which made the room feel so small!  And everything was so "wood-y"!  We had a dark wood bed (which didn't match the rest of our furniture), a huge, dark armoire, 2 dark side tables, a dark standing mirror and a ginormous dark dresser.  It didn't help that our walls were brown too!  It was just so harsh!  This time around I want a soft and romantic room!  Our wall color is Benjamin Moore edgecomb grey.  I love the color.  It's cool, soft, comforting and neutral.  I also didn't want our room to be too "wood-y" again so I have opted for a fabric headboard.

Urban Barn was very good to us today!  I found a beautiful fabric headboard!
Since our walls are a very soft pale grey-ish color (I'm not very good at describing colors) I've decided on a grey fabric.  Urban Barn had 350 fabric colors to choose from (I am NOT good with choices and decision making) and miraculously I was able to narrow it down to 3 colors (phew!):

From left to right: coombs silvergrey, polo grey and lyric silver

Now the hard decision of choosing which fabric to go with.  Ugh I hate choices!  I was so hoping they'd have one on dispay so that I could see what the headboard looked like.  No such luck and now I must decide.  This will probably take awhile and I will probably drive Kevin and everyone around me crazy by asking them wich color they like best!  I think I'm leaning more towards coombs grey (the darker grey).  Since our furniture is going to be white and our duvet cover is white and our wall color is super light I'm thinking the darker grey color with POP more in the room (then again what do I know about decorating).  It would be so much easier if someone came in and did the decorating for me!

I also found these two headboards from Sears which I liked as well but our mattress is super high and I don't think these headboards come up high enough!  At least with the Urban Barn one we can customize the height.

I have decided on white furniture.  I really didn't know what color to go with and never really thought of white but the furniture we have now is a cherry color and it's dark and ugly.  Espresso and black furniture would just be too dark and harsh.  And pine colored furniture just isn't the look we were going for so white it is!  And I never really thought of myself as a white furniture type of person but our cabinets are espresso and our table and chairs are dark brown and so is our couch so I 'm thinking a softer look in our room is what we need.

We found this dresser and this end table from Urban Barn:

I think I'm in love!  We went around looking for bedroom furniture in Coquitlam and man there is A LOT of ugly furniture out there!

Some other great finds that I got from Urban Barn today was this vase which I saw online and had to have and lucky me scored the last one!

I also go these for our desk area:
We also got Lincoln a great picture for his room.  It's masculine and not very kid-ish but my little boy is slowly turning into a little man and the picture goes perfect with his bedding (and it's got a motorcycle on it like papa's)!

I also found a great rug for the front door area-I had no idea finding a rug would be so darn hard!  Lincoln told me he doesn't like it (thanks Linc) but I think it just might do for now!  It sure beats the piece of left over carpet we have right now!

We are also on the hunt for new patio furniture.  We FINALLY have a covered patio and a wooded back yard.  I don't think we really need new patio furniture-the one we have is light grey and goes with our house but Kev wants something new and more comfortable (plus it is my parents old set).  We also want to have a seating area.  We've already talked about lounging outside once the kids are in bed drinking coffee and listening to the frogs.  It's a dream of ours.  I'd love to lounge on this:

And of course Kevin wants a fire pit thingy (what is with men and fire pits?) and a new bbq.  Ahhh if only money really DID grow on trees!

I'm kinda giddy about decorating again!  I almost forgot about the shitty weather that's going on outside!  Serioulsy what gives?  I know I shouldn't complain too much cause I just spent 17 glorious days basking in the sun but this weather is insane.  And I don't really want to admit this but I'm kinda over summer and looking forward to fall.  Crisp cool nights cuddled inside with flannel pj's and the fire place on.

I know this has nothing to do with decorating my master bedroom but I picked up these today:
I'll be rocking them all summer long with everything I wear (well that's IF we get a summer).

OK I think I've rambled on enough!  Happy "beautiful" July 16th Everyone!  Ugh!

Father's Day (better late than never:-)

I one day hope my boys grow up to be just like this man:
Garlic bread lovin and all!

Words to describe this man as a father...that's a hard one!  I think he's pretty indescribable (I'm also a bit bias).  He loves his boys with all his heart and soul!  He's loving, compassionate and patient.  Caring and understanding!  He's fun and adventurous.  My husband as a father...undesirable really!

And these boys not only love their da-da but you can tell they already admire him:

Watching Kevin with our boys makes me fall in love with him all over again.  He amazes me each and every single day.  I knew there was a reason my mother forced me to get a job at McDonald's.  I never would have met this man.  I never would have had these two beautiful little boys.  I am truly blessed.  Kevin thank you for loving our boys.  Thank you for being such an amazing father.  And thank you for sweeping me off my feet and making all me dreams come true.  We love you so very much.

And what can I say about this man:
He rocks.  He truly is an awesome and amazing dad and papa.  He loves his children and he loves his grandchildren.  And we love him back.

These two boys love their papa:

Really there is nothing like papa's love!  Sometimes there just isn't words to describe someones love...just emotion...pure raw emotion!  Watching these men with my boys warms my heart (like really warms the heart).  It brings tears to my eyes.  My boys are so loved.  And our hearts are over flowing with love for these two guys!  Happy Father's Day Dad and Happy Father's Day Kevin!  You are loved!

And on a side note...this lady is pretty super awesome too!

There is a reason my boys call her mama...she loves them like they are her own!  And we love her back:-)
